Genie Magnolia

Genie Magnolia is a truly compact reblooming deciduous tree with a rounded habit and upright branches.  Fuzzy blackish-red buds open to large velvety dark maroon-purple flowers with magenta tips in spring and can experience another bloom later in summer if the conditions are not too dry.  Best color in full sun and moist, slightly-acidic, well-drained soil.  

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  No serious pests or diseases.  Watch for powdery mildew, dieback, leaf spots, canker, and anthracnose.  Potential pests include weevils, scale, thrips, and snails.

LANDSCAPE USES: Specimen or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, and Foundation Plantings.

COMPANION PLANTS: Gibraltar Azalea, Oakleaf Hydrangea, Gardenia Radicans
